Centennial park tree sculptures

October 21, 2010 § Leave a comment

In amongst the woods in the slopes above the Federation Pavilion at Centennial Park while walking the dog, you come across these arrangements of branches. There are unknown sculptors at work here  who gather branches lying around and transform them into igloo like environmental sculptures or screens or whatever they are!. There forms are quite lovely constructions built layer upon layer – probably the work of children but that’s neither here nor there. They do not appear to be the work of maintenance people gathering up the branches, as, if you walk around there often you observe the method and pattern of those piles. These forms are more ad hoc and yet very deliberate and are part of the great thing about walking through the park – that sense of discovery.
