252 Forbes Streets, Darlinghurst.

January 10, 2011 § 1 Comment

This great addition to the rear of the cafe on the corner of Forbes and Burton Streets, Darlinghurst, is an incongruous delight. The vertical recycled timbers play against the heritage sandstone and the horizontal guidelines of the adjacent cafe. The sandstone is old, the timbers are old, yet it’s all new and playful.

What is baffling though is who the designers are as the address doesn’t come up on a google search or the other search engines that I’ve been trying.

I may have it wrong of course. Any help is appreciated.

There used to be a bench outside…if you climbed up you could see through the horizontal window inside at the chefs working away! The cafe interior is also striking with exposed brickwork combined with a modern ceiling and lighting. Food good too!
