Sydney’s light rail system

Whist there has been some controversy about how the new NSW Light Rail system is going to impact Sydney’s eastern suburbs, it has been quietly operating for some time in the southern CBD. It’s been operational since 2001 and Sydney Light Rail connects Central Railway Station with nearby city and inner harbour areas. A 5.6km extension is being extended to Sydney’s inner western suburbs which is to be completed this year. In 2012, the NSW government announced  the CBD and South East Light Rail project at the cost of $1.6 (AUD). This will all hopefully simplify Sydney’s crazy public transport system.
