Love Locks at Bondi

In Paris, the bridges are groaning under the weight of the “love locks”. On the headland south of Bondi, lovers leave their padlocks, often engraved with their names or a message, on the wire rungs of the fencing that runs along the cliffs.
There’s no shortage of space for more locks along the coast walk but in Paris, there’s a “No Love Locks” campaign as the unbreakable locks – an estimated 700,000 across the French capital’s bridges – are affecting the structural integrity of the bridges. Perhaps the lovers need to come to Sydney where they can gaze out to the enormity of the Pacific Ocean?
